Jammu, 05 Jan: Duggar Karanti Sena (DKS) a Trust formed with a motive to make the people of Jammu legally aware and to fight for the election reforms, organized a Legal Awareness camp today at Shaheedi Smarak, Park Ambphalla where the representatives of the Trust educated the Home Guards regarding the issues involving the law. The program was chaired by the Chairman of the Trust, Adv. Vilakshan Singh and was Presided by the President of the Trust, Adv. Pushvinder Singh. Adv. Vikrant Sharma, Vice-President of the Trust and other members of the Trust also attended the program.
While talking to the Home Guards, Adv. Pushvinder Singh said that Legal awareness is also known as legal consciousness and is the empowerment of the individuals regarding issues involving the law. He said that legal awareness helps to promote consciousness of legal culture, participation in the formation of laws and the rule of law. He said that legal consciousness is the process by which people make sense of their experiences by relying on legal categories and concepts. People do this even when they are not familiar with the details and minutia of law or the legal system, he added.
He further said that Kranti Sena is committed to educate the people of Jammu region about their basic fundamental rights rights and make them legally aware about their rights so that they shall not be maltreated, harassed or humiliated in the hands of Police or others unnecessarily. In order to realize their rights, Dogras (People of Jammu Province) need to take the initiative to articulate them and for this noble cause, the members of Kranti Sena are always on their toes. Vilakshan Singh, while addressing the Home Guards, delivered the lecture on very important Article 370 and explained them the effects of article 370 with respect to the relations of J&K with India. He said that the article 370 is just a barrier before the Parliament of India because of which parliament of India is unable to make laws for the state of J&K. He said that J&K is the only state in India whose assembly is more powerful than Parliament of India with respect to the legislation of laws for the state of J&K.
Vikrant Sharma also addressed the Home Guards and delivered the lecture explaining them the basic rights of an individual. He explained them thoroughly about their rights against police before or after arrest. Later on an interactive session was organized where various Home Guards clarified their doubts by asking several questions to the members of the Trust and also thanked the members of the Trust who enlightened their basic legal knowledge.
Meanwhile, the members of Kranti Sena said that similar type of camps shall be organized at Tehsil level and district levels and also be always ready to arrange such type of camps anywhere if they are invited by the people of Jammu Province for the sake of their legal empowerment.
